Devoted
to key ACL data analysis concepts and functionality and designed for
novice to intermediate level users of ACL, this three-day seminar will
introduce you to ACL in an interactive, hands-on learning environment.
With the aid of examples that illustrate the software's abilities,
users will learn how to access data, use commands, build expressions to
detect exceptions, and report findings
Designed
for beginner to intermediate level users of ACL™, this three-day course
introduces you to ACL in an interactive, hands-on learning environment.
You will learn key data analysis concepts and the basics of working
with ACL software. Examples used in class will illustrate how the
software can add value to your audits in the banking and finance
industry
Aimed
at more experienced ACL users, ACL 201 is a two-day workshop designed
to provide users with the necessary skills to successfully execute
complex tasks using ACL. Using real-life scenarios, ACL Certified
trainers relate how to implement projects with a plan using
combinations of ACL commands, expressions, and variables.
Each case study will take you through the phases of assembling a
structured process:
Identifying the project objectives
in business and technical terms
Determining the steps necessary to
achieve objectives
Gaining physical and logical access
by identifying location and format of required data
Ensuring that the data does not
contain corrupt elements and that the IFD is correctly constructed
Testing for control totals, bounds,
completeness, uniqueness, data relationships, and reliability
Scrutinising the data to reveal
exceptions
Preparing the results for formal
presentation
Prerequisite:
Completion of Certified ACL Foundation/Introductory course or at least
six months experience applying ACL to data analysis.
ACL
301 introduces users to the functions that can immediately offer them
results in situations that are common to most data analysts. This
course is a natural progression for ACL users who have completed the
ACL Foundation course and who wish to expand their repertoire of ACL
skills to encompass the use of functions. It is designed to familiarise
users with the most widely applicable functions in ACL. Learn how
functions can be combined with each other to create powerful analytical
tools that can be permanently stored for future reuse.
The following uses of ACL functions will be
covered:
Input validation
Data harmonisation
Data Cleansing
Parsing variable-length strings
Data type conversion
String-specific or "wildcard"
searches
Complex recalculations
Advanced data manipulation
Prerequisite:
Completion of Certified ACL Foundation / Introductory or at least six
months experience applying ACL to data analysis.
This
course offers further insight into the development of data analysis
tools kits. Users will gain an understanding of scripts and their
usefulness in programming repetitive and/or complex ACL tasks. In this
two-day course, users will learn how to automate repetitive tasks with
ACL scripts to free up valuable time to do other work. ACL Scripts will
also help you preserve best practices and thus prevent errors. ACL
Certified trainers will show you how to implement these scripts into
your daily routine - resulting in better controls with your
organisation.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
Create interactive scripts
Edit and run scripts
Define computed fields and create
variables
Develop multi-line commands
Add processing efficiency and logic
control to a script
Design simple, conditional and
nested groups
Prerequisite:
Six months consistent experience applying ACL and familiarity with
expressions, commands, and reporting features of ACL. An added
advantage for those completed ACL 301 Advanced ACL Concepts and
Techniques: Functions.
A
special offering that combines both the Advanced ACL Concepts and
Techniques on Functions and Scripts. Users will recognise a cost
savings if taking both these courses together.
ACL Data Access offers further insight on how to effectively access
data using ACL Version 9. Participants must have a fundamental
understanding of ACL by attending ACL foundation training. You will
learn how to request and access "Data", about accessing "Data" from
Text/Print/Report file, Delimited file, dBase, AS/400, SAP/AIS, how to
use the Data Definition Wizard, about data paths and Data downloading
procedures, about input File Definition, etc.
In
this one-day workshop, participants will gain an understanding on all
important ACL Version 9 commands, as well as its new features. This
course is also very useful for users who would like to refresh and be
updated on the new ACL functionalities.
Participants will learn:
Count, Total, and Statistics
commands
Stratify, Classify, and Age
commands
Sort, Index, and Summarize commands
Gap and Duplicate commands
New Commands such as Cross
Tabulation, & Visual Relations
The
objectives for this one-day workshop are for participants to understand
what is needed to prepare them for fraud detection, investigation and
prevention applications. Participants will learn how to plan for the
data needed and prepare the data, using various commands and functions
to conduct various scenario testing, by using commands such as
Benford's Law and nested functions such Split() and Replace().
Prerequisite:
Completion of Certified ACL Foundation – ACL105
This
two-day workshop focuses on performing fraud detection analysis
effectively and efficiently using ACL. In a hands-on interactive
environment, you will learn key data analysis concepts and practices,
and you will apply what you have learned working through activities.
Centered on a case study, the course gives you a practice in accessing
data, verifying data integrity, performing tests for indicators of
fraudulent or other suspicious activity, and creating reports.
Prerequisite:
Completion of ACL 105 and ACL 301 presented by an ACL Certified
Trainer. Ideally participants also have attended Introduction to Data
Forensic Techniques but not necessary.
This
two-day workshop provides participants with an appreciation of the
importance of the Auditing profession and how CAATTs assist auditors.
Participants learn how to utilize ACL as a CAATTs tool. Using real
scenarios and data, participants learn to identify issues and to
determine if they are indeed an audit finding, data quality issue or
negligence.
This workshop covers a wide range of topics:
An Overview of the Auditing
Profession - Past, Current and Future
This
two-day course is designed for specialists in the functional areas of
Quality Assurance and Compliance. An appreciation of QA/QC functions
along with their challenges is given.
Participants will learn how a tool like ACL can empower them in the
following areas of QA/QC:
Business Process Improvements
IT Change Management
System Acceptance Test (SAT)/User
Acceptance Test (UAT)
Problem Management/Help Desk
Disaster Recovery Planning/Back up
Compliance/Continuous Monitoring
Prerequisite:
Completion of ACL 105 Foundations course.
This
one-day course is designed for specialists in the areas of Management
or Regulatory Reporting (to Statutory Bodies, Regulators). This
workshop provides participants with skills to transform their on-going
reporting requirements to ACL Automation.
Prerequisite:
Completion of ACL 105 Foundations course.
This five-day workshop encompasses the 40 recommendations of FATF and
how ACL can be used for AML.
During the session, PDS would actually assist the participants to
develop an AML solution according to user's requirements (partially).
Upon completion, users will be able to further build, amend and
integrate the remaining AML components where required.
Benefits of AML Workshop Session:
Users are able to development
and/or further enhance the AML solution with regulatory change
Provide the capacity to build an
internal core AML team
Enable use of ACL in a consistent
and skilled manner, translating into better quality results
Consistently
applied technique enables a synergy within the audit team providing
easier measurement and evaluation of the audit results
Cost effective
Ability to implement within own
timeline and prioritise the area of major concern
Confidentiality
of information is retained as the data is within the organisation, and
no solution provider is given access to data
Prerequisite:
Completion of ACL 105 presented by an ACL Certified Trainer. Ideally,
participants should also have a comprehensive knowledge on the process
flow and the data layouts.
